I’m a huge advocate of any piece of clothing that takes an outfit from boring to chic. Since a fair amount of my closet is made up of basics and solid colors, I rely heavily on fun additions to my outfits. This could mean adding a funky necklace, a hat, a scarf, or a top layer (a jacket, a vest, a kimono, etc.)

This season, it’s all about vests. I’m telling you, it’s the perfect addition to any basic tee, solid buttondown or dress. It’s what I refer to as an “instant outfit.” Currently my collection consists of the following:

• Madewell denim vest
• H&M leather moto vest
• Bebe drapey leather vest
• Max Jeans utility vest
• Forever21 long crochet vest
• Long blanket vest (as pictured! Marshall’s find)
• Me Jane southwest pattern wool and sherpa vest
