My Skincare Routine

I thought I’d take a little break from my outfit/shopping posts, to talk a little about my skincare routine. As we all know, our skin is one of our best accessories, and it’s so important to take good care of it. Admittedly, I haven’t always treated my skin the way I should have, and I’m certainly paying for this now (but I’ll get into that a little later.) It’s taken me a long time to find products that I really like, and that I feel good about using on my skin daily. A little more than a year ago, I was poking around the Whole Body section at Whole Foods and stumbled upon the Acure Organics line, and the rest is history.

My collection of Acure products has been steadily growing since I discovered the brand. I am consistently really happy with the quality of the products, and they really do feel great on my skin. But, let’s start with a little back story on my skin:

In my teens, I had a hard time with my skin. Looking back, I think it had a lot (if not all) to do with teenage hormones. I dealt with a lot of blemishes and redness on my face, and I was put on more oral and topical medications than I can even remember. I tried it all, and nothing worked. All I was doing was drying my skin out and irritating it, and I’m still dealing with the repercussions of this. Thankfully, my skin has mostly recovered from this, and has since matured beyond that hormonal stage. I do still notice some hyperpigmentation on my face, however. I now focus on being extra gentle with my skin, and make sure I cleanse, tone and moisturize daily. Acure products have been a wonderful addition to my skincare routine.

Acure Organics Argan Stem Cell + Chlorella Growth Factor Brightening Facial Scrub, 4 oz
I try not to exfoliate my face too often, since it tends to make my face quite red afterward, but this facial scrub is really gentle and doesn’t leave my face feeling raw. I use this once a week, but it’s fine for daily use also. It does a great job at sloughing away dry/dead skin from your face and leaving it squeaky clean.

ACURE Facial Cleansing Gel Superfruit + Chlorella, 4oz
This cleansing gel is actually my most recent Acure purchase, and I couldn’t be more pleased! I was using the Sensitive Skin Cleanser as my main face wash for over a year now, but I wanted something with a wee bit more makeup-fighting power. This gel is gentle, but effective at removing dirt and makeup.

Acure Sensitive Facial Cleanser – Argan Oil Probiotic – 4 oz
This is such a gentle and smooth cleanser- it’s perfect for sensitive, dry skin. The only drawback is that it’s not super tough on leftover makeup, so it’s a good idea to follow up with a toner or cleansing water to make sure everything is removed.

Radical Resurfacing Facial Treatment: Lemon Probiotic + 1% Chlorella Growth Factor
I bought this facial treatment to help with redness and unevenness on my face, and it seems to be working! I use this at night, after I wash my face, as a night cream (though it’s certainly not as heavy as a night cream.) I can tell that it’s helped with my skin’s texture and has evened out some of that redness I was talking about earlier.

ACURE Day Cream Gotu Kola Stem Cell + 1% Chlorella, 1.75 oz
I love this day cream! I put this on after washing my face in the morning. It’s got a citrus scent to it, which is really nice as I’m trying to wake up in the morning. It’s not too heavy, but nice and moisturizing all year round.

ACURE Toner Rose + Red Tea
For me, this is really more of a facial mist than a toner. For toners, I tend to use the Simple Micellar Water, because it does a great job at cleansing my face of anything the face wash missed. However, this balancing spray from Acure feels amazing when sprayed on a fresh face- and it helps calm redness, which is always a plus for me!

All in all, I would recommend any of these products if you’re looking for a switch. They’re all linked to the Amazon page where you can purchase them, and the price tends to be better on Amazon than at Whole Foods, from what I’ve noticed. I’d also love to hear about any products that you swear by, because I’m always looking to give new products a try!

  1. I love Acure products and swear by it! I’ve been using the facial cleaning cream and exfoliating scrub only so far. You’ve inspired me to get more! I just noticed my local health store is offering 20% off on these products all month. So if the price beats Amazon, I’ll be sure to get some new ones to try! Great post!
