Lace Up Love

There are certain trends that I just can’t ignore, and that I always end up giving into at some point. Today’s post is all about lace up style tops because it’s one of those trends that I just couldn’t keep out of my wardrobe.
There’s a bit of a 70s vibe with this top, and it pairs really well with similarly retro style bottoms (i.e. button front suede or corduroy skirts and high rise flares.) The lace up style really spoke to me because it’s sexy without being offensive, and the lacing gives you total control over how exposed you are. I do have to say that a drawback on this style is that it’s geared more toward a smaller chest, since wearing a bra with a low front isn’t really an option.
When I saw that Free People had a version of this top, I knew I needed it. I’ve written in earlier posts about how I love FP spandex intimates and basics because they’re super comfortable, surprisingly flattering, and always the perfect layering piece. This top in particular is made with a nice thick material that smooths out the body, rather than highlighting imperfections. It’s perfect for tucking into skirts and high rise bottoms.

I found some other lace up options, in case tighter tops aren’t your style:

Free People Robin Lace Up

Urban Outfitters Silence & Noise Rex Lace Up Top
