A High Waist is the Only Waist For Me

I was inspired to write this post today, after a shopping mission to find a new pair of jeans. I was open to a few different styles: flares, skinnies, straight or even a relaxed fit, but they MUST be high waisted. No matter how cute the jeans may be, if they’re not high waisted (or a generous mid-rise) then they’re not for me.

It made me think about the appeal of low rise jeans. Honestly, I’m not sure how I ever managed to wear a low rise. For most body types, there’s nothing particularly flattering about them. I find they shrink my already quite small derrière, and they seem to provoke a muffin-top situation for any body type. I also don’t particularly enjoy pulling up my pants frequently through the day.

That being said, I wanted to share a few of my favorite high rise pairs, in case you share my love for the rise.

Paige Margot High Rise Ultra Skinny >> These jeans feel like a second skin. True to the Paige style, they’re super stretchy (more jegging-like, in my opinion), which I find to be exactly what I need for a long day at work.

Citizens of Humanity Rocket High Rise >> Similar to the Paige Margot’s but less jegging qualities, and more of a denim feel. These are my go-to jeans for any occasion. They’re well-made and still feel as great as when I first bought them.

Pilcro Superscript Flares >> I had to throw in a pair of Pilcros, because I’ve really come to appreciate this brand now that I work part-time at Anthro. If you’re not familiar, Pilcro is Anthro’s premium denim line, and they look and feel wonderful. The Supercript style in particular is a vintage high rise fit and they are oh so comfortable. These flares will make your legs look amazing.

Madewell High Riser Skinny Skinny >> Okay, so I’m sharing another skinny jean, but there are just so many great high rise skinnies to choose from! Madewell’s high riser comes in a ton of great washes and even prints. High recommended.

BDG High Rise Skinnies >> BDG used to be my holy grail jean back in college, when the funds were tighter. I still wear them from time to time and I’m always pleased with how comfy and flattering they are. I linked a pair of these adorable high rise cords in a plaid print – perfect for fall.

If you guys swear by any high rise styles then please share them with me! My denim collection is ever-growing.
