I’ve been thinking a lot lately about personal style. It really is a wonderful thing. My own personal style is a way for me to express myself, and it has a big part in promoting my own self-confidence and pride. It’s just one of those feel-good things in my life.
I’ve noticed that my style has evolved quite a bit throughout the years, and now I’m at a point where it’s nearly impossible for me to put my style into words. I love the versatility of clothing and accessories, and the ability to reflect how I’m feeling in my personal appearance. I don’t believe in rigid rules surrounding style- instead, I happily welcome any looks that appeal to me aesthetically. Some days I’ll walk into my closet and see one of my tattered flannels and be totally inspired to rock an edgier, 90s-inspired look. Other days, I’ll be in head to toe J. Crew, feeling structured and put-together. This mash up of styles is what I consider to be my look.
There are some consistent elements to my style, however:
- Neutral colors are my go-to
- Basic, versatile pieces are almost always the foundation to any of my looks
- Denim and some piece of leather is always present
- Comfort is key: It’s super important for me to always feel comfortable and mobile in anything I wear
